Windows Live OneCare Removal Utility + Instructions:

If the software installation is stating that there is an incompatible program detected and the listed application is Windows Live OneCare, please follow the instructions below to completely remove any remnant files:

Step 1: Manually uninstall Windows Live OneCare components:

1.1 Please download the tool from the following link and save it onto your hard disk:

http://download.microsoft.com/download/3/a/5/3a55dc68-6466-43e8-b886-f6e1ab829d12/OneCareCleanup.exe

1.2 Double click the downloaded "OneCareCleanup" file and then click "Continue".

1.3 Choose "I accept the terms of End-User Licensing Agreement" and click "Continue".

1.4 Click the "Clean" button, and the tool will begin to remove OneCare.

1.5 After the process finishes, please click to restart the computer.

Step 2:

2.1 Restart your computer.

2.2 Click Start, click Run, type "regedit" (without quotation marks) in the Open box, and then click OK.

2.3 Expand to the following registry key:

IMPORTANT WARNING:  Modifying your registry using the Registry Editor may cause serious problems.  These problems may include (but are not limited to) reinstallation of your operating system (Windows XP, 2000, ME, etc.), program functionality, and/or serious data loss.  Please consider backing up your registry entries PRIOR to modification.  For assistance in dealing with the registry, please contact the manufacturer of your computer.

Please click through the proper directories to arrive at the following path.  Each individual backslash “\” indicates a folder to click through within the subdirectories.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MalwareProtection

Note: if the registry cannot be found, please go ahead to install Panda again and check the result.

2.4 Right click on "MalwareProtection" and choose Permissions.

2.5 Select "Administrators" from the list and then check "Allow" next to the "Full Control" entry.

2.6 Click OK. Right click on "MalwareProtection" and choose Export, type a file name to export the key as a backup.

2.7 Right click on the key again and choose Delete. Restart your computer and install Panda again.
